CFOTY Award

Conservation Farmer of the Year Award

The CFOTY Award recognises environmentally sustainable and profitable farming and the willingness of farmers to contribute to the well-being of the local and greater farming community.

Farmers in the Central West, Lachlan, Murrumbidgee and Murray catchments are eligible to enter the award. Nominations are also welcome from the Hunter and Central Rivers catchments (which will be incorporated into the Central West region).

Regional finalists are selected from each catchment, then vying for the title of Conservation Farmer of the Year announced at the CANFA Annual Conference & Dinner on 2 August in Dubbo. The award winner will receive $5,000 towards personal development in conservation agriculture.

Nominations may be made by another farmer or extension officer, or by self-nomination by lodging a nomination form with a one page resume of your farming program.

The winner of the 2011 Conservation Farmer of the Year Award are the Byrne family (Byrne Partners) of Peak Hill (Central West catchment). More information about their farming operations will be posted on the CANFA website in coming weeks.
