About CANFA
History
CWCFA was formed in Parkes in 1994, emerging from growing interest in conservation agriculture practices in Central West NSW. As an Association, it was committed to informing farmers about the latest farming practices through field days, workshops and field trips. CWCFA was supported by the expertise of extension staff from the government departments, other farming systems groups, commercial businesses and other specialists in the field.
In 2008, the Central West Conservation Farming Association (CWCFA) changed its name to the Conservation Agriculture and No-till Farming Association (CANFA) in order to be more representative of the type of farming being practiced by its members. The organisation was also preparing to expand its membership base south.
CANFA Today
CANFA is committed to its members, keen to ensure that it supports the profitable, sustainable conservation agriculture and no-till farming practices of its members in central and southern New South Wales.
With an Executive Officer, support staff and a dedicated, experienced committee behind it, CANFA is keen to forge strong partnerships with government bodies and the private sector to provide members with the latest information on research, technology and practical application.
The delivery of information to members is regular through e-bulletins, case studies, field days, bus trips, workshops, annual conference and other correspondence.
CAAANZ
The Conservation Agriculture Alliance of Australia and New Zealand (CAAANZ) comprises the SA, WA and Victorian No-Till Farmers Associations, Conservation Farmers Incorporated, based in Queensland and Northern NSW, Conservation Agriculture & No-till Farming Association, which represents farmers in Central and Southern NSW, and the New Zealand No-Tillage Association. More than 4000 conservation and no-till farmers across Australia and NZ belong to the groups that form this alliance.
CAAANZ was formed in 2005 to provide conservation farmers with a single voice on key soil conservation issues ranging from research to carbon sequestration, and to improve the flow of technical information across State and national boundaries.
The alliance works to improve sharing of information about the benefits and practicalities of conservation farming and encourage further adoption of conservation farming practices in Australia and NZ.
